Recently I learned about your interest in childhood autism and related develop-mental disorders. I know that you feel God has been showing you a connection between autism and some popular cartoons such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh, cartoons with witchcraft, sorcery, or demonic content.
I, for one, would love to share some things with you that I have both experienced and observed. My daughter, Kirstin, is now a normal, beautiful, loving 13-year old. However, we went through one diagnosis after another, as we watched her displaying obsessive/compulsive behaviors, withdrawal, and living in complete obsession and fantasy. She was under a complete (hypnotic) spell, with Pokemon first, then the others followed. She lied and stole to get the cards and toys and hid her many drawings, which were exact replicas of the characters. She dreamed about them and even believed Ash, (one of Pokemon’s characters) was a real live boyfriend. With each new cartoon and each obsession came a new diagnostic label – OCD, Autism, and ADD. Finally the diagnosis of PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) was given because the doctors couldn’t decide between Asperger’s Syndrome and Autism. They are all very similar.
I cried because I felt as though my daughter was dead. . . gone. . .erased! She needed no love and no physical contact. They told me these cards and shows soothed her obsessions, as if the Anafrinal and Zoloft were not enough. We prayed for healing, both of us bewildered when it did not come.
