A pro-family leader is appalled that former RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman subverted the party's position on traditional marriage while hiding his own homosexuality. Peter LaBarbera adds that current GOP head Michael Steele is misguided in applauding Mehlman's behavior while failing to acknowledge the many ex-homosexuals who provide a positive example. "Gay" Activist Teacher Portrays Herself as Innocent Victim

Ohio Education Association Defended Teacher Being Used as Prime Witness on House Bill 176

Day of Silence became launching pad for teacher’s “discrimination” campaign

Why is the Ohio teachers union (OEA) helping homosexual lobbyists aggressively push homosexuality and cross-dressing into schools and the state’s businesses?

The teacher plaintiff in a case that has become the central example cited of “discrimination” against a homosexual in the state was provided defense by the Ohio Education Association in her successful case against her former school district employer. The Ohio Education Association also supports a bill which would force employers to hire or retain open homosexuals and cross-dressers in schools and other workplaces.

House Bill 176 proposes to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to Ohio’s civil rights law for employment, housing, education, etc. The measure passed the Ohio House on September 15, 2009, and now moves to the Ohio Senate. Critics of the measure contend that “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” do not qualify as protected classes according to court-established criteria, and argue that the addition would force employers to make decisions contrary to their own deeply held religious convictions or personal viewpoints.

Jimmie Beall was a teacher for the London City Schools in suburban Columbus when in 2003, she decided to make it clear to her students what her sexual preference was.

On the pro-homosexual “Day of Silence” in 2003, she used her position as a teacher to advocate for “gay rights” by presenting a Power Point to her students. The “Day of Silence” has been a key annual project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) of New York City. The project encourages students and teachers to remain silent on one designated day each year. The goal is to stigmatize anyone who questions the full embrace of homosexuality and cross-dressing in schools and associate them with harassment, discrimination and potential violence. The Day of Silence tolerates no dissenting viewpoints from total acceptance of homosexual and cross-gender behavior for teachers and all age students.

The National Education Association has worked closely with GLSEN, even awarding GLSEN founder Kevin Jennings, an open homosexual, a high honor in 2003.

According to Education Wonks, Beall remained silent on the “Day of Silence” to recognize the national activist observance while the Power Point revealed her support for open homosexuality and her own lifestyle as a lesbian.Beall’s contract was not renewed that year for various reasons, possibly including her homosexual activism through the Power Point, as reported in the media. She then filed a lawsuit, which was settled in her favor against the school district.

Beall’s legal counsel was provided for her by the Ohio Education Association.

Homosexual advocacy is now routine for the NEA and its state affiliates. The NEA has passed numerous resolutions supporting student and teacher “GLBT” lifestyles in schools. At the 2009 representative assembly, NEA passed a resolution supporting same sex “marriage,” and pledging to support grass roots efforts to oppose upholding traditional marriage.

In 2001, the OEA sent letters to state representatives urging them "on behalf of the 126,500 members of OEA" to oppose the Defense of Marriage act, which upheld traditional marriage. DOMA passed the Ohio General Assembly and was signed into law by Governor Taft in 2004.

Election records show that the sponsor of House Bill 176, Dan Stewart (D-Columbus) received $7500 from the Ohio Education Association during the 2008 campaign. Overall, Democrats received 85% of the OEA PAC contributions, over $858,000 in 2008, according to Follow the Money (www.followthemoney.org). Lobbyists for the OEA visited offices of Ohio House representatives asking for support for House Bill 176 earlier this year.

During hearings in the State Government committee of the House, Beall testified herself and her case was referenced repeatedly by others, including the bill sponsors. Beall was interviewed by news media as a key spokesperson for the bill. Beall is now employed in the Columbus Public Schools.

As a part of Beall’s case settlement before going to trial, she received nearly $40,000 in compensation. In addition, the London school district was forced to add “sexual orientation” to its “non-discrimination” policy.
