The word "ban" is negative. Like "taboo," the term offends modern sensibilities trained to be ever more accepting of any envelope-pushing behavior. That's why the media describe California's Proposition 8 constitutional marriage law as a "ban," not the codification of something positive and timeless....The media have turned the meaning of marriage on its head. Calling the law a "ban" says its only purpose is to discriminate against homosexuals. By this reasoning, any law or policy that defines something is a "ban." Click to Learn More

Gender Terrorism: The Transgendered Agenda

Exploding the Foundation of Humanity

By Linda P. Harvey

WARNING: Graphic content included.

The first question a parent asks in the delivery room is a simple one, or so it would seem: is it a boy or a girl? Yet the advocates of gender nonconformity would like these distinctions to vanish, and for everyone to buy into the notion that biology means nothing.

Most Americans would be outraged at how rapidly revolutionary ideas about gender are invading our classrooms. But discussions about cross-dressing, sex change surgery and even abolishing gender altogether are now part of the trendy "gay" agenda and are such are gaining widespread acceptance by teachers, the NEA, and school boards.

So the so-called civil rights umbrella now covers "GLBT" youth. The "T" stands for "transgendered," and the massive "gay" lobby is no longer afraid to let this one out of the ever-uglier closet. The rationale is simple. Since most communities have essentially yawned at the idea of boys engaging in anal sex, maybe this too will fly. One wonders what it will take for God's people to say, "Let our children go!" Nudity in the schools, perhaps? That, too, may be on the horizon with the "transgender" goal to change dress codes.

Here are just a few examples of what our children are facing at school:

* Teachers who undergo sex change hormone treatment or surgery, and want to return to teach in the same schools. (California, Illinois, New York, Minnesota).1 One middle school principal did this last fall in Wilmette, Illinois.2
* Cross-dressing students becoming the poster children for changing dress codes, open bathroom policies, and new anti- harassment codes specifying "gender" (Vermont, Georgia, Oregon, Massachusetts).3
* Cross-dressing teachers who have not had a sex change operation asserting their rights to dress as they wish and use whatever bathroom they wish.4
* Special school-wide events "celebrating" not just homosexuality and bisexuality, but "transgendered" behavior. (Massachusetts).5

Laying the groundwork for all this has been decades of feminist influence in the social sciences, maintaining that gender is socially-constructed; that our ideas of masculinity and femininity don't fit the reality of human variation or "diversity." While some of these observations may have a grain of truth here and there, the solutions proposed don't; they lead us into profoundly confusing territory. But this doesn't bother the activists on the left, including all the major "gay" organizations. It sometimes seems that nothing less than chaos is the real objective. The ordinary parent or school board member may be totally unprepared to deal with the nonsense being proposed as activist teachers, parents or increasingly, students challenge the most fundamental assumptions about humanity.

The "transgendered" cause is now fronting anarchist ideology for many groups like GLSEN, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, which is pushing for the elimination of "heterosexism" in schools.

"Heterosexism" is described in one recent GLSEN article as the current "traditional rituals" of dances and proms; athletic traditions; Valentine's Day, Mother's Day or Father's Day; literature and textbooks that depict convention marriage and family; course offerings, dress codes and of course, locker room and bathroom issues.6 One is tempted to dismiss all of this as folly that will gain no serious hearing, until one looks at how much ground has already been gained.

And more and more local and state governments are yielding to these demands as well. Minnesota has a state "human rights" law that acknowledges "gender identity" and protects it from discrimination; the city of San Francisco now pays for sex change surgery as part of health benefits for city workers; and the governor of Iowa included "gender and gender identity" as two of the categories for protection against discrimination in an executive order in 1999 regarding state employment.

So, it's time to devise some strategies and prepare for battle on the most idiotic of fronts.
How far are these activists willing to push these ideas in our schools? If one looks at what is being taught at national "gay rights" conferences, we can't even imagine.

Each year, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force sponsors a conference called "Creating Change." At the meeting this past November in Milwaukee, the conference included workshops entitled "Bringing Homosexuality Out of the Closet and Into the Classroom;" "Drag 101: How to Turn Kids in Makeup Into Kings and Queens;" "Advocacy in Action: Getting Your School on Board;" and "Bisexual, Heteroflexible, No Label at all: On Campus and Beyond."7 Before one is tempted to dismiss these folks as a weird, harmless minority, it should be noted that a U.S. congresswoman, Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin) was the featured speaker. She is an open lesbian.

This conference also featured workshops on sado-masochism, polyamory (group relationships) and "intergenerational sex"-a fancy name for child molestation.

The "gay" lobby's friends in high, powerful places are on the increase. The featured speaker at GLSEN's annual meeting in the fall of 2000 was the president of the National Education Association (NEA), our nation's largest lobbying group, and certainly powerful when it comes to influencing children.

And talking about friends in high places, no one is much more powerful than the president of the U.S. Yet Bill Clinton was the first president in history ever to appear at a meeting of a homosexual activist group when he attended a dinner of the Human Rights Campaign several years ago, even getting his picture taken with TV personality and open lesbian Ellen DeGeneres and her (then) partner, Anne Heche.

This same organization, which often positions itself as the most "mainstream" of the large "gay" groups, sponsored a conference for youth in Washington in February, 2002, called "True Spirit." This conference was totally dedicated to "transgendered" people. This conference featured breast removal workshops for young women, including teens, even with a show- and -tell segment. A plastic surgeon was on hand to give advice. Workshop titles included "Parents and Kids: The Invisibility of FTM [female-to-male ] Youth;" "Transfag Datebait;" and "Testosterone Diaries." Attendees at this conference were invited to a sexual "play-party" at a sadism-oriented nightclub.8

How heartbreaking to hear young girls eager to mutilate their bodies! Peter LaBarbera, senior policy analyst for the Culture and Family Institute of Concerned Women for America, wrote an article exposing the conference content. He was very troubled by a room filled with girls in their teens and 20s listening to a plastic surgeon describe what a few short years ago was considered medical mutilation. Because of the efforts of the homosexual lobby, breast removal for "identity" reasons is now considered an acceptable health practice.9

It will come as no shock to Christians, who with discernment know where this is leading, to learn about another workshop title at this meeting: "Sacred Body, Sacred Sex," led by a Wiccan priestess. Youth attendees were not allowed to participate. One can only imagine what this group would consider unacceptable for youth! But it's certainly no surprise that occult spirituality is mixed up in all this.

What's the solution? Certainly the well-informed parent, teacher and school board member should recognize that it's only a matter of time before "transgendered rights" assaults the local school, if it hasn't already. Attorneys can be helpful allies and provide research about the schools' possible exposure to costly litigation. The expression of gender confusion by teachers or students and subsequent demands can be curtailed ahead of time, though. One way is to stop the "gay" rights agenda in the school. Here are some related ideas:

1. Don't pass non-discrimination or anti-harassment policies that single out "sexual orientation," and do not allow "gay" student clubs. If these have already started, find a way to dismantle them. Also, find a way for student publications to be accountable to a board of advisors including parents, because these can disseminate false and incendiary information.

2. Prevent students from making school board meetings a circus for trendy and immature agendas. Require a week's prior notice if any student wants to speak; a written text of the speech beforehand; signed parental approval of a student's appearance; and the prerogative of refusing to let students speak after you have received the text. Never, never allow a student to occupy a board seat!

3. Have a mechanism for ejecting demonstrators from your board meetings. If you begin to have parents and others lobbying the board for these ideas, you may want to shut down public commentary for a time, or require advance copies in writing of all testimonies and no deviation from the text. It's also a time-saver. This will prevent grand-standing by the advocates of immorality.

4. The media is a frequent ally of students and gives them free publicity, but when you can, inform publishers and editors that you will consider it an example of flagrant bias if slanted articles promoting homosexuality among students are printed. Take a stand saying that your school believes these students are being manipulated by older homosexuals with misinformation that will harm them. In order to counteract bad publicity, build into your time and budget mailings to every parent, wherein you can clarify and fully inform parents of your decisions.

5. Most important of all, set up a mechanism to help these kids. The counseling arm of your school must begin to reject what many of the "mainstream" medical organizations are saying and listen to people who are willing to tell kids the truth about homosexuality, cross-dressing, etc. Find these counselors and have them available on referral for these troubled kids and their families where appropriate.

6. Don't hide from these issues. Be willing to take the heat, because if you aren't ready to serve on the board, the "gay" lobby will find someone sympathetic to their views who will. Consider it a calling-and the children of your community will be blessed and protected.

There is terrorism in our midst. Even as we battle it in faraway lands, let's conduct counter-terrorism operations here on American soil as well. At stake is the integrity of nothing less than the human race itself.
